About

I teach music – classic guitar when I can, light music if that’s what the student wants. Not-very-successful writer. Read almost anything with print on it. Enjoy handwork – have recently become addicted to tatting. Changing the way I do things, and hoping to get out of a humungous rut…

Still going strong with the tatting!

The writing is … shall we say patchy? I joined some writing sites with the aim of getting impartial feedback and giving feedback to other writers. I also hoped this would help get me back into a routine, but it seems to be taking up a lot of time and I’m getting very little useful feedback.

Still teaching guitar, but am having problems with my left hand (thumb particularly) which makes it almost impossible to play much more than basic pieces. It makes teaching difficult, but I don’t want to go for an operation…

Hi! I nominated you for the Liebster Award. I posted instructions on how to accept. You’re a good writer. Keep up the good work!

  3. Hi there

I enjoyed reading your blog so much that I have decided to nominate you for a “Liebster Award”
Then I found out you have already been nominated, whoops”!
    (Still like your blog though)

Hi! Just finished reading your older posts about life in South Africa & teaching music – really enjoyed them. Is there a link to your children’s book, too?

Thanks, glad you enjoyed them. 😉
No link to the music book, I’m afraid. There are a few chapters of one of my books up at Book Country, but it is fantasy.

Have you considered combining your two loves and writing a book about tatting or a book of tatting patterns? Or perhaps a book teaches classic guitar?
In other words, write what you know – I most people know a whole lot more than they think they do 😉
My other bit of unsolicited advice – IF you want to become a writer – consider checking out http://howtothinksideways.com joining is free and Holly not only is a good teacher, she has written/published over 30 sci-fi novels.

  7. Thanks for all the “likes”. It is much appreciated.

Hi there. Thank you for visiting and following HoB. Much appreciated!

  14. Thanks for your visit to Profiles; I noted you’ve not made any posts for about two years… (I dislike the block editor too)
By trial and error, I’ve managed to make it cooperate, but it takes more steps to accomplish a task than the now defunct “classic” editor. Interesting to find you are in South Africa; I’m in the U.S.state of Nevada.
PARTNERING WITH EAGLES is my main blog, Profiles is dedicated to Veterans.
